Statement of PurposeThe Accounting Manager will report to the Chief Financial Officer and serve as an integral member of the finance team.

 Primary Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for cross-training and serves as a back-up to the Senior Accountant, Accounting and Payroll Support Specialist, and the Director of Finance.
  • Responsible for day-to-day accounting functions.
  • Oversees Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll processes.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures and best practices.
  • Assists with grant reporting.
  • Assists with the preparation of 1099 forms.
  • Assists with maintenance and review of monthly entries within Blackbaud Accounting System
  • Assist in preparing grant proposals and applications.
  • Maintain accurate fund accounting records and ensure compliance with donor restrictions and grant requirements.
  • Assists the Director of Finance with month-end close and monthly preparation of financial statements by reviewing and analyzing monthly revenues and expenses.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheet and bank account reconciliations.
  • Assists with the preparation of audit schedules and documentation requested for various audits.
  • Maintains internal controls and safeguards over accounting processes.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Senior Accountants and Specialists.
  • Performs other accounting/finance functions as requested.

 Education/Professional:

  • 4-5 years of nonprofit finance and accounting experience.
  • BS/BA degree in accounting required.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Must have at least 3 years of managing a finance team.

 Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Required:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Excellent judgment and attention to details.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Financial System is required.
  • Experience managing people is required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds while exhibiting awareness of cultural differences of clients, staff, and community contacts.
  • Must have knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Professional, reliable, and the ability to handle confidential information.

Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain valid Florida driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Must have reliable and accessible auto vehicle.
  • Must pass necessary fingerprinting, Level II background checks and employment eligibility verification through the U. S. Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify system, https://e-verify.uscis.gov/emp.
