METRO’s behavioral health services offer a number opportunities to assist people with substance misuse issues and recovery including individual or group counseling. Our outpatient treatment and counseling options can help you counteract addiction’s powerful and disruptive effects.
Treatment that increases the emotional, physical, and mental health of individuals struggling with the recovery from substance misuse. Those who have a difficult time verbally expressing themselves or those who are just looking for a new way to express themselves will find Creative Recovery provides the venue for self-expression with a more open interaction than the traditional method of talk therapy through collage, painting, drawing, writing, music, meditation, role-plays and more. Lunch provided.
Thursdays, 12:30pm, St. Pete Community Center
A focus on substance misuse, relapse prevention, and living healthy with HIV/AIDS. Share experiences, strength, and hope with one another. Learn healthy coping skills to manage daily stressors without resorting to substance use with tools such as music and art therapy, expressive work, educational interventions, and much more. Lunch Provided.
Tuesdays, 1:30pm, Tampa Community Center
Provides therapeutic and peer support for people living with HIV/AIDS. Participants have the opportunity to share their experiences of how the disease has affected their lives. Learn new coping skills while providing support and feedback to each other. Topics include relationships, stigma of being HIV+, cultural issues, and goals for the future. Meal provided.
Wednesdays; 10:00am, St. Pete Community Center / 1:00pm, Tampa Community Center
Explore and develop a stronger relationship with self with respect, honor, and love, and learn how to have healthy relationships with others utilizing meditations, self-esteem exercises, writing and art exercises, mindfulness, communication exercises, and other practices. Meal provided.
Fridays, 2:30pm, St. Pete Community Center / Mondays, 2:30pm, Tampa Community Center
METRO offers outpatient substance misuse counseling for those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. This program offers services tailored to individuals in their own personal stage of recovery. The program is free and confidential. Participants will earn gift cards, gas cards, and bus passes as incentives for attendance.

METRO behavioral health provide services via a Psychiatric ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) for evaluation, medication management, and monthly follow-ups. Services are free to individuals who are HIV positive. Some restrictions apply for free psychiatric evaluations if the client has private insurance or Medicaid. Access psychiatric evaluations may be offered to HIV negative individuals for a fee (price may vary).
