2025-26 COVID-19 Vaccine Information

The FDA has approved updated COVID-19 vaccines for the 2025–2026 season: Pfizer (Comirnaty 2025–2026) and Moderna (mNEXSPIKE).

These vaccines arrive as COVID cases rise across the country and here in Tampa Bay. We strongly recommend vaccination for those who qualify.

Eligibility is limited to patients currently receiving medical care from a METRO provider.

Who is Eligible?

  • Ages 65+: Eligible with photo ID — no prescription required

  • Under 65 with certain health conditions:

    • A prescription is no longer required

    • Patients only need to self-attest that:

      • They have a condition that increases risk for severe COVID-19, and/or

      • They consulted a medical professional and decided vaccination is appropriate (Shared Clinical Decision Making)

What Does It Cost?

  • Covered by Medicare and Medicaid
  • Most private insurance plans are expected to cover through the end of 2025
  • $110 self-pay (all-inclusive) if not covered
